On-Line design means that the Liebert GXT corrects for frequency deviations in the input power.  Power quality experts tell us that the power grid in the United States and most of Western Europe does not experience frequency deviations.  These grids are rock solid 60 Hz (50 Hz for Europe).

So why is protection from input frequency changes important?  Good question!  Allow us to answer:

• Many corporations have locations in developing countries where the power grid is not frequency stable.
• Even in frequency stable areas, emergency diesel generators are often as frequency unstable as the grids in developing countries.

OK, so the Liebert GXT corrects for frequency, what do the other off-line or line interactive systems do when frequency varies?

Another good question!  These systems either:

1. Pass the out-of-specification power on to your sensitive computer equipment (is this why you buy a UPS?) ....or..
2. Go to battery power... Good, right??  Well suppose the frequency deviation lasts for a longer time than your batteries...  You have input power (outside of the frequency tolerance) but.... Your server is down!!!

The Liebert UPStation corrects for the following input power problems WITHOUT USING THE BATTERY:

• Frequency 57.6 - 62.4 Hz (for 60 Hz grids) or 48.1 - 51.9 Hz (for 50 Hz grids)
• Input voltage 83 - 134 volts (for 120 volt systems)

This all means that the GXT corrects power when it's available, preserving valuable battery energy for critical power outages.
